Cultural Revitalization Project

Posted July 22, 2022

University of Alaska Fairbanks graduate student Sojung Ha is working on a research project focused on the Tangirnarmiut people of Woody Island. The project will collect information about our history, identity, culture, and values through individual and group interviews with Elders and Tribal citizens.

Sojung will be spending the remainder of the summer in Kodiak, and will reach out to local Tribal households in coming weeks to invite and schedule interviews. Tribal citizens are also encouraged to reach out to Sojung at (347) 940-0467 or sha7@alaska.edu if you have stories to share or questions about the project.

Your participation would be greatly appreciated, so that we can continue to celebrate and preserve the rich history and culture of the Tangirnarmiut people and Tangirnaq Native Village. Your insight and stories are valuable! Quyanaa!
